Stages.

We, like most other styles, operate a staged system of progression.

This involves tests, at which various colours of belts are issued, according to the abilities that have been demonstrated.

There are eight stages that have to be reached before reaching black belt and each stage is also a test of all previous technique.

Purple Belt.

This is the first-stage test and it is undertaken approximately 12 weeks after the student has started.

One of the reasons why we test at this level, is to make sure that the syllabus has been fully taught and there have been no omissions on the part of the teacher.

This is most important, at this level, because the information given is the knowledge that the student will use for the rest of their practice in this Martial Art.

The first Set Form is taught at this level and we expect this to be performed in a specified time.

This routine introduces the concept of moving using stances and combining simple hand and foot movement.

This is the level at which the basic techniques of blocking, punching, and kicking are introduced.

Also at this level we have the start of simple throwing technique and simple break falls.
